Why does Newt, Bohner and McConnell all look waxy and sick?

Every time I've seen them lately they all look sick and it just dawned on me, they all look pale, carring a thick layer or sweat, waxy and almost transparent???? Is someone poisoning all of them or are they being irradiated or something???
